A broader public should receive insight into basic research, which, however, is all too often barely accessible to a lay audience. Artistic forms are a suitable carrier to bring across complex processes in various formats. The Art&Science Collaborative, consisting of the ETH quantum researchers Klara Rhaissa Burlamaqui Theophilo, Chiara Decaroli and Maciej Malinowski, wants to convey their fascination with research and natural phenomena to the public.

In October of last year, for example, they tried science communication through theatre improvisation. This February they will bring the researchers' view to the public through a photo exhibition.

For this they have organised a photo contest, with the mission of communicating scientific research through images. The jury of researchers and professional a well as amateur photographers has selected 13 photos from the fields of physics, including astronomy and radiography as well as chemistry, for the exhibition.
