The ETH Laboratory of Ion Beam Physics (LIP) serves as a national and international center for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) and ion beam applications in materials sciences. Providing unique experimental capabilities, the laboratory promotes the advancement of novel applications of ion beam based techniques in new and emerging fields within the earth and life Sciences as well as in archeology and in fundamental physics. The laboratory invests into the development of next-generation machines for accelerator mass spectrometry and serves as a user-lab to satisfy the demand of analytic ion beam techniques of external users.
