ESI program on
Quantum Field Theory on Curved Space-times
and Curved Target Spaces

1 March -- 30 April 2010

Quantum Field Theory (QFT) is a highly successful framework for the description of elementary particles. Recently considerable progress has been made on how to construct and understand QFTs on curved 4-dimensional space-time manifolds. Some of the advances are reminiscent of ideas that have been previously developed in the context of 2-dimensional conformal quantum field theories, in particular for curved target spaces. The aim of the program is to bring together experts working in these two fields.

Organisers:
Stefan Hollands (Cardiff), Matthias Gaberdiel (ETH Zürich),
Volker Schomerus (DESY Hamburg), Jakob Yngvason (ESI)

The program will take place at the Erwin Schrödinger Institute. From 22-26 March 2010 there will be a special workshop.
