Niklas Houba earned his Ph.D. from the University of Stuttgart in 2023 after completing a master's degree in aerospace engineering and astronautics at RWTH Aachen University. During his time at Airbus, Niklas worked in the department of future space missions on high-precision estimation and calibration algorithms for the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission. His research continues as a postdoc at ETH Zurich. In this position, he is dedicated to developing machine learning methods and addressing the global fit problem of LISA. In spring 2024, Niklas spent time as a visiting scientist in the Department of Physics, Mathematics, and Astronomy at Caltech. In 2025, he transitioned from the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences to the Institute for Particle- and Astrophysics within the Department of Physics at ETH Zurich, further deepening his focus on gravitational wave research with LISA.
